Wedding Trends in 2024

As a new year quickly approaches, we are on our toes anticipating which trends we will see more of in 2024. Here is a list of the top 9 wedding trends we look forward to seeing next year.

Wedding Trend #1: Glam & Themed Dress Codes

We love a good black-tie, formal attire wedding, or elegant cocktail attire. While we can’t wait to see more of them in the new year, we are also anticipating wedding dress codes that add fun and creative flair.

To name a few, garden party attire, all-black, and white, and vintage themes are on the rise. We also expect more weddings involving fashion and pop culture trends. Who wouldn’t love to attend a wedding calling for all black and gold?

We can’t wait to see more creativity and these kinds of expressions, especially when they incorporate 2024 wedding aesthetics.

Wedding Trend #2: Photo-Worthy Experiences

Next year, we expect to see couples opting for wedding experience moments that are just as much meant for the camera as they are worth doing.

What is the difference between a photo-worthy experience and a “Do it for Instagram” celebration feature? We think that this trend is a refreshing take and, if anything, brings a sense of meaning back to moments that previously were only meant for social media clout. The key difference is that we expect to see more meaningful moments that are both fun in real-time and also make for great photos.

Whether it’s pouring up a champagne tower that all of your guests can enjoy or bringing in a vintage photo booth (that actually prints vintage photos!), we love where this trend is going.

Wedding Trend #3: Not-So-Average Guest Books and Escort Displays

Guest books, seating charts, and escort displays have practically been around since the dawn of time. While it is known that they are necessary out of function at nearly every wedding and celebration, we are thrilled that couples are pushing the envelope to rethink them more than ever before.

New age guest book concepts and escort displays are on the rise, and we have our eyes on even more fresh takes for them in 2024.

When it comes to wedding ledgers, audio guest books like After the Tone and FeteFone have become two of our favorites. We also love video-style guest books and other opportunities for videographers to interview family and friends as they are celebrating at the reception.

In the world of escort and other kinds of displays, signs point to 2024 being a year that we can expect the unexpected. Whether it’s a blooming seating chart or an interactive welcome station, we have our eyes on what new concepts we will see next.

Wedding Trend #4: Color and Design With a Twist

This bridal arrangement from Sol Flora NYC featured both blooms and Thai basil.

You caught us. Bold colors and floral arrangements were two trends that we watched this year. How will 2024 be different? We expect to see couples thinking outside of the flower box when it comes to luxury event planning.

What do we think is on the horizon? We are anticipating non-floral objects in flower arrangements. Think herbs, exotic fruits, and even vegetables! We are also sensing that there will be more added when it comes to prop-style and avante-garde statements and backdrops at weddings and other celebrations.

Wedding Trend #5: Wedding After-Parties

Wedding after-parties are not new, but they are starting to become just as important as the other parts of a couple’s big day. The part that brings us the most joy about this trend is how much personality distinctive after-parties can take on and how much they can add when it comes to the experience.

The rise of the wedding after-party is also on our list because of how many novelty features they can have. From trendy rooftop gatherings to intimate late-night lounges, food trucks, karaoke, or late-night DJs, after-parties provide the perfect setting to dance, enjoy, and cut loose. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love to keep the party going?

Wedding Trend #6: Outfit Changes

Speaking of after-parties, we love a good outfit change!

Next year, we anticipate brides to opt for secondary dresses or surprise transitions more than ever before. We expect to see brides slipping out of their formal bridal gowns and into dazzling party dresses, playful jumpsuits, or stylish mini skirts that embrace vibrant colors with added textures of fringe or sparkle as they make way for the celebration ahead.

Anything trendy that makes a wedding day that much more fun for the bride (and adds a photo opp!) is a friend of ours. I think it is safe to say that we will see more of this in 2024.

Pro Tip: Map out the timing of your reception or after-party outfit change with your wedding planner. This way, you don’t miss any key moments when you step away, and your photographer will be ready as soon as you re-appear.

Wedding Trend #7: Vintage Vibes

Ironically, we love to look back in time as much as we love to look forward. This why we are the most excited to see more couples opting for vintage and other throwback components when it comes to their weddings. We expect that distinct looks and experiences from the 1920s, 1960s, and 1990s to make comebacks as we enter 2024.

To name a few, watch for brides to opt for vintage-inspired gowns and more looks involving lace and tulle. We also are ready for vintage wedding cakes, retro photobooths, and a mix of other experiences to combine the new with the old.

For this vintage wedding, the bride and groom hired the Checker Cab to help set the vibe.

Wedding Trend #8: Moments to Share Your Story

Every wedding tells a story, but we live for opportunities that allow brides and grooms to weave their personalities into the experience and surprises along the way. In 2024, we expect to see more of this as couples are becoming even more innovative with their wedding plans.

What does this trend mean? Expect to see more moments in weddings in the new year that reflect family traditions, culture, and other expressions. This year, one of our favorite moments was when a Scottish groom and his family surprised their guests with a bagpiper in the middle of dinner.

Wedding Trend #9: Weddings With a Cause

Custom Wedding Favors

Last but certainly not least, more couples have been leaning into opportunities to give back at their weddings. We are overjoyed that signs point to more of this in the new year. Nothing makes us happier than the chance to incorporate charities and other causes into weddings and other special days.

In the new year, we expect to see more opportunities to place donations, especially, instead of traditional wedding gifts or favors. Overall, we love that couples are using their wedding days to change the world and raise awareness for causes they care about.
